Power Restored: Complete Engine Replacement on a 2019 Ford Ranger

When this 2019 Ford Ranger came into our Leicester workshop all the way down from Oadby, the owner already knew something serious was wrong. The pickup vehicle lost power while its engine ran erratically and showed signs of deteriorating internal engine systems. After a series of checks and diagnostics, we confirmed what no driver wants to hear … “the engine had suffered failure beyond repair”.

The Diagnosis

The Ranger’s 2.0-litre EcoBlue engine showed internal damage which made engine rebuilding costs too high to consider. We suggested replacing the entire engine instead of making repairs because this approach would provide lasting reliability and performance benefits, plus bigger warranty.

The Replacement

The technicians extracted the faulty engine to perform a thorough examination of the gearbox, mounts and wiring harness while the engine was out. We fitted a factory-spec replacement engine after completing all cleaning and preparation work while making sure all connections, fluid paths and timing settings matched their original positions.

After the installation, the new engine was filled with fresh oil and coolant, and we carried out a complete system bleed, then it was test time.

Back on the Road

Once reassembled, the Ranger ran beautifully – smooth, responsive, and ready for work again. The owner was delighted to see their pickup truck running at its original condition.

At The Motor Company, we handle complex jobs like this almost weekly – from timing chains and VANOS repairs to full engine swaps – and all that is backed by over 390 Google reviews from customers who trust us to get it right the first time.
