Another Oil Cooler Seal Leak! This Time on an Audi A7 3.0 Quattro
Oil leaks don’t always make a dramatic entrance, but they can cause big headaches if left too long. This Audi A7 3.0 Quattro came into our Leicester workshop from Glenfield, after the owner noticed oil seeping from the top of the engine.
The Diagnosis
Our inspection revealed the culprit. It was a failed oil cooler seal, a common issue we see in Audi servicing and repair work. The seal had hardened over time, allowing oil to leak onto hot components, creating both a mess and a potential fire risk.
Once the cooler was removed, it was clear how far the leak had spread. The seal was cracked and brittle, and oil residue had built up around the housing and nearby parts.
The Fix
We stripped the area down, cleaned all surfaces thoroughly, and fitted a new genuine seal and gasket. After reassembly, we pressure-tested both the cooling and oil systems to confirm everything was leak-free before refilling with fresh oil and coolant.
For complex jobs like this, our team follows the same process used in every engine repair we carry out in Leicester, which is precision, care, and full testing before handover.
Back on the Road
With the leak sorted, the Audi was back to running cleanly and quietly. Another precise repair for another relieved driver.
